The Roy Brown Society

The Roy Brown Society was founded to preserve and promote the incredible life story of Captain Arthur Roy Brown of Carleton Place. A Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Air Force Pilot in the First World War, Brown was involved in the famous air battle of April 21,1918 in which the famed German Ace, Baron Manfred Von Richthofen was downed.

The Society is also committed to sharing the stories of the many military pilots and war aces who came from Carleton Place.

The Moore House

The historic Moore House in downtown Carleton Place is home to the Visitors Center and the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce. In addition, they feature a permanent exhibit dedicated to Captain Roy Brown, as well as a gift shop.

The Moore House is located at 170 Bridge Street.

The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum

The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum is located in the original Carleton Place Town Hall, built in 1872. Permanent galleries tell the story of the community and its people, and the Foss Room features temporary themed exhibits. A permanent display about Captain A. Roy Brown explores his early years and the Brown family’s influence on the community.

The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum is located at 267 Edmund Street.
